Merry Christmas

I hope you all had a wonderful holiday!  We sure did - we cooked a prime rib dinner for my daughter Cass & her boyfriend Mikey, which turned out perfect.  Then we visited Jeremy's family, and ended the evening by hanging out with Cass at Mikey's sister Katie's house... and Katie just happens to have the world's most adorable 4-month-old baby girl, Melrose.  :)  So we had a great time.  Christmas Day we had a little party at our house and I made buffalo chicken macaroni & cheese, Swedish meatballs (which I must say came out better than any others I've ever made in my life!), lots of dips and appetizers and desserts... let's just say no one is going hungry around here this weekend.  And I took yesterday off, so I ended up with a 5-day weekend.  So nice.

So here is a Christmas card I'd like to enter into a few challenges:

The image is from Jellypark and I colored it with Prismacolor pencils & mineral spirits.  Papers are from Authentique.  Have a fun & safe weekend!  Peace.

Catching up...

Hello there!  I feel like I never blog anymore, and I'm starting to miss it.  It's such a different world working full-time, but I do enjoy it.  And of course when I hurt my hand, it really set me back with crafting.  It's come a long way, but I still can't bend it at the middle joint.  I have to continue massaging the scar and I go back to the surgeon in February.  He said we could talk about doing another surgery to remove some of the scar tissue but I don't think I'm going to agree to another surgery.  The only things I cannot do are light a lighter, snap my fingers, and do the "bridge" when you shuffle a deck of cards. LOL   I don't think those things justify another surgery and possible complications, etc.  I'm just so thankful to be able to dress myself, start my car, peel & cut up vegetables... I'm very appreciative of things I never even gave a second thought to before.  Life is like that, isn't it?  Well I certainly think about it now!

Anyway, I'm playing catch-up today and posting some of this week's creations.  We had a new challenge for you on Wednesday at:

Our sponsor this week is KennyK and you've got until Tuesday night to link up your star-themed ATC.  :)

Boo-Boo & Witchy Zen 2

Good morning! OK so I'm gonna warn you right away that the picture of my hand is kind of gross. So if you have a weak tummy, just don't look any further  past the pic of the cute witch card. You've been warned. LOL

OK so first I have a card using our awesome new image called Witchy Zen from Just Some Lines:

I'd like to enter my cute witch into the following challenges:

I colored her with PrismaColor pencils & mineral spirits and used my spider & web dies from My Favorite Things.  Sentiment stickers are from Tim Holtz.

So I have been MIA - about 10 days ago, I was home alone one morning and got up at 6 as usual.  Fed the cats and went to make coffee in my old fashioned stove-top percolator (see post here).  As I put the pot on the counter, a candle fell and knocked the pot over.  On instinct, I tried to grab the pot but it had already broken.  When I looked down, I just saw a hole in my hand. I started to freak out but pulled it together quickly.  LOL  When I clenched my hand, it started bleeding and I couldn't bandage it because it was my right hand.  So I called 911 and the wonderful EMT's came & bandaged me up so I could drive myself to the ER.  I ended up having a severed tendon & a severed pulley, and I had surgery 3 days later (last Friday) to repair them.  The funny thing is that I had no pain until the surgery.  I spent the weekend in a fog and today, one week, later, I'm just starting to feel like a human being again.  Jeremy was scheduled to fly back to MA the day after I cut myself, so he's literally been taking care of me for over a week.  Anyone who knows me knows it's really hard for me to let someone else be the caregiver... I am the caregiver!  But I had no choice and I just accepted it and appreciate it so very much.  It's taking me a long time to type this but I miss blogging so much.  And coloring... I cannot wait to be able to color again.  Button my pants. Wash my own hair. Cut up my food... it really is the little things!!!  OK so here is a pic of my hand after surgery -

It's going to take another 4-5 weeks to heal, so I have to go easy and not push it too much so I don't rupture the repairs that were made.  I am going back to work on Monday and they are willing to work with me as far as letting me go at my own pace and only do what I can do.  Hope you all have a great weekend.  Peace.

Seize the Day: ATC

OK so I know you're dying to know - I survived my 1st week back to work!  :)  Although I was exhausted by Friday and wondering how the Hell I did it back when I had small children at home!  I started on a good week - Jeremy's in California, Trevor's in Japan, and Cass was in Maine for the week.  So it was nice to not have to worry about taking care of anyone else while adjusting to the working world again!
